Matthew 22: 1-2:
The kingdom of heaven is like unto a certain king, which made a marriage for his son. And sent forth his servants to call them that were bidden to the wedding: and they would not come?”
We have the very great privilege to marry a lovely young couple in our home later this month on Valentine’s Day. Everyone is looking forward to it. It’s an occasion we are anticipating and soon will be celebrating. Imagine being invited to a wedding, not a house but a sumptuous banquet, no thought or expense spared. That would really be something to look forward to. It would be an opportunity to celebrate with the happy couple on their special day. In this parable that Jesus shared, the guests one by one offered up some pretty poor excuses as to why they could not attend. In the end that decision turned out to be very much to their own detriment. Others however, joyfully agreed and were blessed.
The Lord invites each one of us to His eternal home. It will be a place like no other. The question is what will you do with that invitation? To refuse is to do yourself an everlasting damage. To accept is to know the blessing of Christ. All things are prepared, it’s just the guests who have to arrive. The Lord invites us into a loving relationship with Him. To be with Him and enjoy Him forever.
We cannot wait to celebrate with this lovely young couple on their special day. Yet a greater day is coming! Friend, we urge you to respond in the positive to God’s celebration and offer of eternal life.
Much love in Christ
Pastor John
