The month of May often brings a sense of fresh beginnings. Gardners look forward to it and there is a general feeling of expectation as winter is past and summer approaches.
As the days grow longer and creation bursts into life, we are reminded of the opening words of Genesis: “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” Before anything existed, God was already at work—bringing order out of chaos, light out of darkness, and life where there was none.
This is the pattern of God’s work, not only in creation but in our lives. Where there is emptiness, He can create potential and begin a new thing!
Where we feel stuck or burdened, He can speak light and life. For He said, “Let there be light and there was light.” He is still speaking into hearts today.
New beginnings can be very powerful and dramatic. However, sometimes they come quietly—in renewed faith, restored relationships or a fresh desire to walk with God. As we reflect on Genesis 1 this month, we are invited to trust the Creator who makes all things new.
We also see in Genesis that God’s work was intentional and purposeful. Each day of creation unfolded according to His perfect design. In the same way, the new beginnings He brings in our lives are not random or rushed. He works patiently, shaping us over time, often in ways we do not immediately understand.
Whatever this season holds, remember: God is not finished with you. Just as He formed and filled the world with purpose, He continues His work in us—shaping, renewing, and leading us into new beginnings. What a very blessed and exciting journey that is.
Wishing you and yours a wonderful season of spiritual renewal and extraordinary growth.
Love in Christ, Pastor John
