October blog 2025: Silencing Christ’s message

ree

For I am not ashamed of the Gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes. — Romans 1:16

As followers of Christ, we are entrusted with the greatest message ever given, the Good News of Jesus Christ. Yet in our day, it can feel easier and safer to remain quiet. Secular society and culture often tell us that faith should be private if we must indeed hold it at all. That the name of Jesus should not be mentioned in any true biblical sense or at best not spoken too boldly.

The issue for a believer is this: the Gospel is not designed to be hidden!  It is light in the darkness, hope for the hopeless, and life for the weary soul.

Charlie Kirk is a name that you may have heard recently. He was a young Christian man with a wife and two daughters who was brutally and publicly murdered for voicing his biblical views. He once reminded believers that truth does not lose its power simply because it makes others uncomfortable.

How much more is that true of the Gospel, which carries eternal weight and heavenly power? The love of Christ is not something we whisper—it is something we should live, speak, and shine in a world that longs for hope.

Silence may feel safe, but it denies others the chance to encounter the Savior who changes our lives.  Bigger even than: that it is disobedient to the heavenly commission. It’s a refusal to declare the message of Christ: The One who is our Lord and Saviour.

The truth is you cannot really silence God’s message by attempting to silence the messengers. Think about Cain and Able - after Cain killed his brother his voice cried from the earth!  When Stephen was stoned it was the beginning of the impact made on Saul of Tarsus -we are still speaking of them both today.  People have tried to ban and burn the bible - yet it continues to outsell all other books.

Today, let us ask God for courage. Courage to speak when He prompts, courage to love when it’s hard, courage to shine His light no matter the cost.

Love and blessings
