June is a month many people look forward to. The football World Cup begins soon and already countless supporters are preparing for it; saving money, planning gatherings, buying shirts, and eagerly counting down the days. Others are looking ahead to summer holidays, retirement plans, family occasions, or future ambitions. Much of life is spent preparing for what lies ahead.
Yet there is one appointment many try not to think about — death.
It is a sobering thought. We naturally prefer lighter subjects, but Gods word speaks plainly and honestly about life’s certainty. In Ecclesiastes3:1-2 we read:
“To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
A time to be born, and a time to die”
Death is the great certainty of human life. Rich or poor, young or old, prepared or unprepared — every one of us will one day face eternity. While people diligently prepare for sport, travel, careers, or retirement, how few truly prepare to meet God.
The Bible does not speak of this to fill us with despair, but to awaken us to what matters most. The Lord Jesus Christ came into the world not only to teach or perform miracles, but to save sinners and bring the hope of eternal life through His death and resurrection.
The question is not whether we are preparing for earthly events, but whether we are prepared for eternity.
The World Cup may be enjoyed, but will soon pass. Holidays are a welcome break but they come and go. Retirement years eventually end. But eternity is forever.
Many spend years making financial plans, taking out insurance, and arranging for the future. Yet the soul is of greater value than all earthly possessions. A wise person prepares not only for time, but for eternity, seeking peace with God through faith in Christ before life’s opportunities have passed away forever.
This short June Blog reminds us that while there is “a time to every purpose under heaven,”
now is the time to seek the Lord while He may be found.
The Apostle Paul said “for me to live is Christ , & to die is gain” That’s a great assurance I wish for each and every one of you.
Love and blessings
